Making Alamo St. and Tapo St. Multimodal
With additional housing units being constructed on Tapo St. and Alamo St. Simi Valley needs to be prepared to support alternate modes of transportation. To encourage new and existing residents along this corridor to reduce their trips made by car, we need to make safety improvements to our biking and pedestrian infrastructure.
Main Suggestions
The focus of our suggestions lie in the general area between our government center to the northwest and the Simi Valley Metrolink station to the southeast. We are suggesting the following…
- A safer and more dedicated space for bikes along Alamo St. between the development on the corner of Tapo St. and Alamo St. to the government center here at the intersection of Alamo St. and Tapo Canyon Rd.
- A dedicated path along Tapo St. from the intersection at Alamo St. to the Arroyo Simi trail past Los Angeles Ave. to the south.
It would also be great to see some more pedestrian and bike improvements around the many schools and open spaces in that area, such as…

- Lemon Park
- Valley View Middle School
- Garden Grove Elementary School
- Santa Susana High School
- Rancho Santa Susana Community Center
- Simi Valley High School

- Fewer people taking their car for short trips
- reducing traffic congestion
- reducing emissions
- reducing traffic incidents
- increased mobility for people who don’t have access to a personal automobile.

- increased connection and involvement with their community (a big problem for the younger generation of Simi).
