We advocate for better active and public transportation in Ventura County

We believe everyone deserves a house to live in. We think that people should not have to solely rely on a personal automobile to get their groceries. We think its a great injustice that our beautiful open space needs to be sacrified in the name of suburban spawl.

We live in such a beautiful area and should want to ensure as many people as possible can enjoy it.

  • Updates to the Simi Valley Bicycle Master Plan

In the next year, Simi Valley will be updating its Bicycle Master Plan, which has not received any updates since 2008. This is a great opportunity to have a positive impact on the safety of our bicycle infrastructure and encourage people to consider other modes of transportation within their local environment.

  • Improving Active Transportation Around Simi Valley Schools

Like clockwork, twice every weekday, the streets of Simi Valley become saturated with the cars of the tens of thousands of people who commute to work and school. Parents sit waiting in their idling cars for their turn to drop off their children, and wish them a good day. Unfortunately this way of life is generally accepted by most Southern California residents. However, Simi Valley should be able to do better. A significant number of students live just a 10-20 minute bike ride away from school, yet continue to be shuttled around by family or neighbors as biking this short distance to school can often seem stressful or dangerous. If we want to reduce the congestion on our roads, improve the quality of our air and allow our students to be more independent, we urgently need to improve the safety and experience of our biking infrastructure.

  • Making Alamo St. and Tapo St. Multimodal

With additional housing units being constructed on Tapo St. and Alamo St. Simi Valley needs to be prepared to support alternate modes of transportation. To encourage new and existing residents along this corridor to reduce their trips made by car, we need to make safety improvements to our biking and pedestrian infrastructure.
